  4. Extension: The suffix that comes after a domain name in a web address (e.g., .com, .net, .org).

  5. Pending delete: Domain names that are scheduled to be deleted by the central registry.

  6. Registry (or The Central registry): The organization responsible for managing domain name extensions like .com, .net, and .co.

  7. Registrant: The individual or organization that registers and owns a domain name.

  8. Registrar: Intermediaries between the central registry and the registrant. NetworkSolutions is an example.

  9. Drop: The process by which expired domain names are deleted at the registry level.
